The Presence Within

A sonic meditation from the forests of Ryuchin Shrine

“The Presence Within” is a contemplative ambient piece composed as part of the ZONE Project’s ongoing exploration of immersive, ritual-inspired soundscapes.

Created by MoriKei, this track invites the listener into a meditative sonic environment shaped by the sounds of nature, lo-fi percussion, drifting analog tones, and ritual vocal fragments. At its core, it reflects a deep spiritual resonance—where sound becomes space, and space becomes a mirror of the inner self.

The foundation of the track lies in a field recording captured at Ryuchin Shrine, a sacred location in Nara, Japan. The flowing river, soft wind through cedar trees, and footsteps on moss create a base layer of acoustic presence. Layered upon this is a combination of:

  • Sub-bass pulses (performed in sync with breathlike rhythms)

  • Glass-textured synths (Ableton’s “Big Glass Sustained E3”)

  • Analog tape-style low-end (from the “80s Tape” patch)

  • Acharia pads, slowly rising and falling like forest fog

  • A distant, echoed voice reciting ancient norito (Shinto ritual prayer)

This piece is not structured like conventional music—it flows, breathes, and invites the listener to dissolve boundaries between inner and outer experience.

“The Presence Within” is intended as both a standalone sonic meditation and a ritual environment for use in VR live events within the ZONE Project.

🎧 Best experienced with headphones, in silence.
