Should Japan possess nuclear weapons?

2025 marks 80 years since the end of WWII. Japan, once devastated by nuclear bombs, now faces a rising debate: Should it possess nuclear weapons—not for attack, but for deterrence?
Some argue it’s necessary for self-defense in a world where nuclear threats are real and growing. Others warn: once you possess it, you become a target—and lose your moral stance.
The real question is not “Can we have them?” It’s “What kind of future are we choosing to build?”
