Drops

About Music Production: “Drops”

“Drops” is an original track of mine that belongs to the Minimal Music genre.

Minimal Music is characterized by repetitive patterns of simple sounds,
and it’s a movement within contemporary music.

Some of the notable artists in this genre include Steve Reich and Philip Glass.

Japanese musician Ryuichi Sakamoto also created music in this genre.

Although I’ve always wanted to try this genre,
its simplicity made it surprisingly challenging to bring to life.

In addition to the music,
I put a lot of effort into the visual imagery for the track.

I used AI to create an image of neon flowers in a field.

I also created an effect where circular lights sync with the sound using Ableton Live’s Max for Live feature.

These two videos were then combined using video editing software.

The AI tools used were Midjourney for image generation and Runway GEN-3 for video generation.

I’m excited about the future developments in AI.

Track Imagery

The track “Drops” combines two minimalist melody patterns,
both using kalimba-like sounds to give an exotic feel.

The rhythm is introduced later,
using a dubstep beat slowed down to 95 bpm,
adding tension to the gentle tones and tightening up the overall track.

Subsequently,
I added synthetic sounds with a futuristic feel,
blending the exotic with the futuristic to create a unique sound.

The underlying exoticism provides listeners with a sense of nostalgia and comfort,
while the dubstep drum patterns and synthetic sounds keep the listener engaged.
